This full-day wellness retreat offers graduate students in education at York a space and place to talk about their current wellness strategies and learn techniques to de-stress and manage stress in new ways. The day schedule provides students with breathing techniques, Kundalini yoga and meditations. Kundalini yoga has specifically designed yoga kriyas (exercise sets) and meditations to tap into the parasympathetic nervous system for de-stressing and increasing a sense of calm. There will be a follow-up session on May 10, 2019 from 12pm to 3pm (same venue).

The schedule of the Wellness Day-Retreat is planned as follows:

10:00am - 10:30 am: Registration & Welcome

10:30am - 11:45 am: Morning pranayama (breathing), Kundalini yoga, and meditation

11:45am - 12:15pm: Talking circle - check in on feelings after the yoga and meditation experience

12:15pm - 1:15pm: Lunch (provided)

1:30pm - 2:30pm: Guest speaker (To Be Announced)

2:30pm - 3:30pm: Afternoon breathing, yoga, meditation, and Gong/Sound for relaxation

3:30pm - 4:00pm: Closing

Attendees will choose a technique(s) for wellness. This is intended to do become part of their 40-day practice going forward after this Wellness Retreat until we meet up again in May 2019.

A private facebook group will be created to stay in touch and check in with each other regarding stress levels, stressors, success with the breathing techniques or meditations.
